I have a 3 year old silkie rooster that presented last week with mild swelling around the eyes. No respiratory symptoms whatsoever. Today he has bubbles in both eyes. Still no respiratory symptoms, no odor, just swelling and bubbles. Everything I read online seems to point at MG, is that definitely what’s going on or can something else cause these symptoms? I have not brought any new birds into the flock in well over a year now, where would they have got MG?

If it certainly is MG how likely is it that my other birds also have it? He is the only chicken with symptoms. This particular rooster is in a separate coop with two hens maybe 10 foot from my main coop. I have over 30 chickens, two turkeys and 1 duck so I’m very concerned about this. They are separated because he is a frizzle. This leads to my next question, I always sell hatching eggs and chicks…If it’s MG what now? Also what should I do for him treatment wise, if there is anything.

I don't have experience with MG, but I know that RAL has testing for it, not exactly cheap at $20 / bird, but it would give you an answer.

Updating to see if anyone has any suggestions…

Still no other symptoms have developed at all. The bubbles were gone the day after my original post, back the next and have been gone ever since. I have my cleaning the eyes and applying neosporin to the swollen area around the eyes (not actually in his eyeballs) daily but have not seen any improvement in the swelling. Still no other chickens seem to have this issue. He’s still eating/drinking/behaving normal…I’m at loss and very confused so any advice would be appreciated.
