Swollen foot, no bumble?

Let's see what WR has to say, but on both feet, the rear toes looks off - On the swollen foot, it looks like there might have been a wound at the base of the rear toe - just below the spur...could be the source of infection...?
And is that dirt (or chicken poop) on the end of the rear toe with the bumble foot scab?
Agreed, both the rear toes are off. It is some sort of scab on the rear toe in the bumble foot picture.

The condition of his back toes is due to damage from fence/pen fighting.
You can put some oil, ointment or vaseline of those back toes and scales to help smooth them if you wish.

Foot in the photo, I suspect may have been fractured or injured at some point and has just healed that way.
If he's getting around o.k. then I'd not do anything drastic or invasive. Soaking in a warm epsom salts bath to help reduce swelling.
If he's kicking wired occasionally, he's going to continue with soft tissue damage and swelling.

Chickens ain't chicken and they're tough little buggers...

Thank you for the reply!

The fence fighting makes sense. I would never have thought of that.

He limps a little, but I’ll start the epsom salt baths and see if that helps.

I’ve actually never seen him, in particular, fence fighting. Is there anything I could do to resolve it?

Keep other roosters away from the wire/fencing, space out your pens or put up blocking where they can't see each other.

Hello again,
Unfortunately, the rooster‘s foot has gotten worse. Both are now swollen. I’m not sure which one was originally, but he dislikes putting weight on one foot.
The one he won’t put weight on is soft and hot to touch. Both feet now have bumble scabs on them, but neither seem particularly large. Could it be the cause of the swelling? Should I treat it as such? Or is gout a possibility?

I feel for him, I hope you can get him healed up. This may be a stupid question...is there a chicken friendly ointment with healing/reduced swelling medication in it? Can you add vetercyn spray to olive oil and massage it in after soaking?
It’s not a stupid question! I’ve used neosporin (no pain relief) before, but that idea with the veterycin sounds like a good idea. I might try that.
I’ve also made a salve with turmeric, ginger, and garlic, but I don’t think that would be potent enough for something like this.
