Swollen foot with ?boil?

Red Kote is an antiseptic used on horses containing scarlet oil. I wouldn't want to use it on chickens because they will peck it, I would think.

I am a great believer in drawing salve (ichthammol), If you have any, put it on the sore, wrap it and leave for a day or 2, lit will draw the remaining "corns" and infection to the surface where you can take care of it easier. When used right away, for me, it gets rid of it without surgery. You can buy scarlet oil by the quart from a vet supply ( jeffers, ect.) very reasonably. I've never used it for this but Fuzzy's suggestion about painting it on the perches is a good one, I never thought of. The straight scarlet oil may be too strong to use on the birds.

Red cot tastes/ smells too terrible to peck! Lol. Had one or two try but they drew back mighty quick. This is what i used, was in large animal meds: antiseptic-germicidal-fungicidal. A quick squirt on each side does the job. Don't need a lot! In oil base, farnam brand. Does not say concentration. Works on leg mites as well!
