Thanks for replying! I do have a few thorny shrubs near the coop. They free range near them.That's got to hurt. She likely was going for a tender new leaf and encountered a nasty thorn. Do you have such a shrub?
I would irrigate the wound twice a day to remove debris and keep it packed with Neosporin. I would use a nozzle with a little force behind it like a kitchen spray hose on the faucet or get a spray bottle and use it on the "stream" setting.
This may seem like a lot of bother, but the wound should close up quickly if you can keep it free of debris.
Thanks for replying! I did check, and I didn’t see anything. The rest of her beak and throat looked normal.When you opened her beak did you happen to notice any yellow or white pasty material in her throat?
