For the last month my 3 month old RIR hen hasn't been able to walk. She had gotten Fowl Pox in early August then a couple days after we found her limping. The next day her feet didn't work. She has been paralyzed since then. I began giving penicillin shots 4 days ago and now she's hopping around on her right leg. But her left leg is still swollen at the hock. I'll be attaching pics. This poor little girl is small but still determined. She is our wiggle queen we find her wiggling all around our living room floor. Now she wiggle hops

Is the swelling in only the one leg, or is it in both? Mycoplasma synovitis can cause swelling and lameness, and there can be swelling of joints. MS is similar to MG, the respiratory disease, but affects the joints more. Tylan, oxytetracycline, enrofloxcin, and Gallimycin may treat it. Are her feet paralyzed, or just not working well enough?

I have been research for the last month about different bacterial and viral diseases that can cause joint swelling and/or lameness. The only problem is she doesn't have any other problems. She's healthy. No respiratory issues. It's just her legs weren't working. Of course now her right is showing signs of working. Left she won't put pressure on it.

Can I give her oxytetracyline even though I'm giving her a penicillin treatment?

Did her legs ever give her problems or look oddly positioned before this happened? I wonder a little if she could have had a bone deformity that may have caused her hock tender to blow out. Here are a couple of articles with pictures about that:

No she first started limping and sitting down in the dirt outside. Her other leg still worked. I put her in a cage so she won't hurt herself. The next day her other leg stopped functioning too. She just sat there and used her wings to wiggle. Her legs weren't positioned weird
