If your using the liquid B complex I'd keep that up. it may be the leg is weak and needs some extra help to get strength back in it. Warm baths where he can swim around is a good way to help strengthen the legs without added pressure to the legs.

We only gave him antibiotics these past few days, however we are going to start with the niacin right away. However, we just got back from a farmacy and they only had powdered vitamin B complex (we live in South America so we usually have limited options. We plan on crushing it and mixing it with water. Would that work as well?If your using the liquid B complex I'd keep that up. it may be the leg is weak and needs some extra help to get strength back in it. Thank you very much for the advice, I will attempt to buy the cosequin as soon as possible. We also have not ruled out a possible niacin deficiency and yesterday we gave him 15 milligrams of vitamin B complex in 150 milliliters of water. I just realized I think we gave him more than the recommended dose and there is little improvement. He looks relatively immobile, but at leat for now he is not getting worse. He has been like this for 2 weeks now, and is a little better than what he was when we started giving him antibiotics 12 days ago but still has a limp and doesn't get around much. We will continue the niacin (in the right dosage this time) just in case and will give him cosequin in case he might have arthritisMy Muscovy drake has arthritis in his one leg and I started him on Cosequin about 6 months ago from another member rec it. he doesn't limp any longer. So you might try some I sprinkle close to a tablespoon over some dry dog food [which he loves] put a small amount of warm water over it and let it sit until the water and cosequin has been absorbed by the dog food. Then he gets it as a treat. He gets this everyday. My drake weighs close to 13lbs. My friend gives her Pekin a teaspoon daily. By the way, her avian vet prescribed this for her duck with leg issues. We live in South America, and the vets here are all dog-cat centered so the vet has never really been an option for us. There is a swelling in his leg joint and what we thought he was starting to become a little pigeon-toed but we did originally suspect an infection. We gave him amoxicillin for a week but it was making him become indisposed so we stopped. Since stopping treatment he was better but hasn't improved since. For his reason we now suspect a possible arthirits. We will give him the vitamin B complex (100 mg a day) for now and I will try to look for the cosequin. It will take some time to see the effects of added niacin. Because you have swelling he's probably injured or has an infection though, not as likely to be a deficiency. Is a vet an option? If not, try to treat for arthritis, make sure he doesn't have to walk a lot to keep up with the flock and get to food and water. Keep checking the bottom of his feet and if any swelling there looks infected make sure to treat it.
Thank you so much for the advice on the cosequin, I will try my best to get some tomorrow. Our duck actually suffered a traumatic injury a year ago, where his leg got stuck on a wodden platform and it even bled. However that was a year ago, and the symptoms of his possible arthritis started around 2 weeks ago. Could there be a correlation? The Cosequin I have is for horses. Vet rec. But they also make it for other pets My dog takes it in chewable for.
It could very well be an injury and because of it the leg has swollen any type of injury can bring on arthritis. My drake was fighting with my gander one day and injured his leg he limped for 2 yrs with me giving him Baby aspirin daily but his limp never went away until he started on the Cosequin. Now he walks with out a limp.
Keep up the B complex and don't worry if he got too much the one time, it is water soluble so what his body can't use he'll pee it out. Also warm water baths where he can float and swim around is a good way to give exercise without overdoing his leg and making it worse.
