I have a hen with a swollen sore foot. She has had bumblefoot in the past which I did treat myself (got the infection out by softening scab and removing the hardened plug thingy). She seemed fine after that for a while, was getting around fine with very minimal limp. Then her foot pad area and side of her foot maybe where the "ankle" area would be is swollen and is limping badly. There is no scab this time, and it's been like this for about a month now. I am keeping her seperated so she isn't bothered by the others and can get food & water easily. I am not going to take her to the vet, but did talk to the vet about possibly doing the "surgery" myself to relieve and get rid of the infection. I am reluctant to do it, although realize this may be the solution and just need to get the will to do it. I was hoping it might get better on it's own, but it's not. [IMG]
    any other ideas for this??

    thanks!!

If you don't think the method in the link CMV gave you will work, you could try 4 days of IM penicillin. This would be especially preferable if the staph is going systemic.
