I just happened to be watching my chicks and noticed when my polish went potty it looked red and swollen. So I chased her down and took a photo or two.

She has been eating and drinking, but I also noticed she has been kinda of loner, hanging out in the coop instead of running around in the run. I actually wondering if she was ok, before I saw the swelling.

After we took the photos we cleaned her a bit and put "Preperation H" on her. She didn't react, but the swelling actually disappeared while we applied it. (went back into the vent?)

Sorry for lack of protocal.

Goldenlaced polish, 9 weeks, unknown weight

2) What is the behavior, exactly.

Being a loner. Has swollen vent.

3) Is there any bleeding, injury, broken bones or other sign of trauma.

No signs of trama. ;No blood.

4) What happened, if anything that you know of, that may have caused the situation.

No idea what caused the problem.

5) What has the bird been eating and drinking, if at all.

drinking water, still eating chick starter/ grower

6) How does the poop look? Normal? Bloody? Runny? etc.

running poop left on behind. See the white stuff.

7) What has been the treatment you have administered so far?

Preperation H

8 ) What is your intent as far as treatment? For example, do you want to treat completely yourself, or do you need help in stabilizing the bird til you can get to a vet?

By my self, and don't know what else to do other then watch and isolate if other birds start pecking.

9) If you have a picture of the wound or condition, please post it. It may help.

Posted.

10) Describe the housing/bedding in use

Pine shavings in coop, large run.

Thank you for the help, I now have read several threads on prolapsing. Quick question though, first, does this mean she's a she? We weren't sure. Second, is it rare for one to prolapse so soon? Most the threads we were reading about were talking about egg laying chickens. This one is only 9 weeks old.

Thank you again Julie and while I'm out I'll try to get a photo of silkie for you.

Here are some photos of her/him standing up. I had to keep a hand on her else she would take off and I didn't feel like a chicken chase in the house.

Also, while your looking...vote to see if she is a she or a he please.
