Hey BYC my rooster has a swollen wattle on his left side of the face. He closes his left eye, and I think it's painful for him. He seems less active than usual and I fear I may need to amputate it. I don't know what to do frankly. This is my favorite rooster and I hate to see him in pain. His other wattle appears fine. Maybe it's an infection. Can you please offer some advice?

facial swelling is oftern the first sign of a respiratory infection..

I would separate him frpom the others, and use Tylan 50 injectable once a day for 5 to 7 days... about 1/2 cc for a 6 to7 pound bird..

OR LS 50 in his water for 7 to 10 days .. be sure this is the only water he can get into for the treatment time or he won't get the right dose ... (Follow package directions) http://fowlfacts.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=medshhh&action=display&thread=286

one
or the other , don't do both...
