I have 8 little bantam gals( at least, I think they are all girls) who are 10 months old. Four of them started laying in Sept. One went broody a week after she started laying. After 5 weeks, she gave up, and 3 others went broody within 2 days. So, I was getting no eggs. The 3 quit being broody in Dec. Still no eggs.
I check every day- no eggs. A few days ago- three eggs!! The next day- 1 egg. The next day- 3 eggs. The next day- 1 egg.
How do they do this? LOL 4 months with no eggs, and 3 of the 4 lay on the same day. And #4 lays the next day.
And I have no clue what is up with the other 4. Good thing they are cute and don't eat much!!

Hens go broody when you don’t want them to… and won’t go broody when you do.
