syracuse chicken club?

Sorry I'm so touchy... it's been a long fair & I'm battling walking pneumonia on top of it!

The birds I saw that needed to be dusted were not Lou's, but I can't say for sure whose they were... I just know that Sammy & I were not happy at all to see that.

There were 2 natural blues (1 had a slight tint of purple) & a black in the pen with the colored silkies. The black & 1 blue were the only ones that we thought were breeder or better quality. At this point, we need to know the sex before buying anymore silkies. I know I wouldn't pay $35 for any in that pen.

I do know that there is a local club called the Fingerlakes Feather Club, but I couldn't find any online info about it. I'll ask around when we go to pick up the birds today & see what I can find out.

Perhaps we should start putting BYC info up on the bullitin boards at shows.

When we went to the NYS fair I really wanted to ask someone questions and the only one around was a teenager watering the chickens and when asked a question he stated..."I don't know anything about chickens I just water them." I think to have a booth next year would be awesome.

I am new to chickens this year. We just got them a couple months ago and one started laying yesterday.

I would probably be interested in a club but can't be too involved as I have 2 small children.

I guess I would just like to organize meetings where people can get info from experienced chicken people. Saw Jeff there but haven't been to see him.
I'd like to see more "BackYard" chicken promotion. People who'd like to keep a dozen or half flock.
Hope you feel better.

My daughter is hoping to work there next year, so there will be at least 1 kid who can answer questions. Sad that the other kids only water them.
