My 2.5 week old duckling is ill and unable to eat, vet gave me a syringe and some special feed to syringe feed her but Im nervous about the proper way to do so without aspirating her. Im currently squirting a pea width drop inside the tip of her bill but it seems to really traumatize her each time we do this and Im afraid its just not enough to keep her strength up. Amy tips on administering? Can I put the syringe down the throat a bit (right side, behind windpipe?) or is it ok to give her more at a time than just a few drops? Ive read about tube feeding but we don't have supplies for that and most stores are closed today. Could I use like aquarium tubing from the pet store? This is the syringe I have.
