Emerging from the bushes was a massive two-headed diamond back snake, slithering in a intimidating winding motion as it made its way towards Cassie. It’s four piercing gold eyes held murderous glare as it’s tongues flicked in and out and rattled its tail. The rattlesnake was outrageously large enough to consume humans whole.
She backed away with a little squeak of fear she attempted to shoot it but her hand was trembling so much that it shot an arrow which only grazed the snake. Cassie’s eyes widened, all that shot had done was annoy it even more, if it wasn’t going to eat her before it certainly was now, she let out a loud call for “HELP” she shrieked. No responses, at least if anybody had heard her near by they certainly hadn’t shown it, she turned and ran, the back pack thudding against her back and her bow falling off her arm as she ran, she continued to have to hoist it up to keep it from falling down, the quiver of arrows bounced against her back but she was like a mad person running faster and faster. She didn’t know where she was going nor did she register that maybe she was in danger of alerting herself to other creatures of the forest but even if she was aware the chances were that she didn’t care.

The snake shot after her, dragging its massive body along the forest floor as it swerved around trees and other obstacles. Now it was chasing Cassie into a wide, deep chasm within the forest that would eventually lead to a dead end. The snakes presence only scared off the surrounding animals, but there were bound to be creatures who would be drawn in on the commotion.

She saw the snake over her shoulder and ran faster, the cliff made her stop, “no,no,no!” She cried looking for any way she could get away from the huge snake which was now chasing her “hellllllpppppp” she shouted hoping her voice would carry to someone anywhere near by

Lyra heard shuffling and rattling and turned hurriedly “Evan” her voice rose above a whisper “EVAN!” She shouted this time. Skeletons. Dozens of them coming towards them, “we really...run! NoW!” She cried
Evan caught Lyra’s whisper the first time, and quickly shot his gaze back at her worriedly before noticing the company behind them. The skeletons were appearing in numbers and advancing rather quickly thanks to their lack of weight for being literal bony skeletons, so they basically glided across the sand. Hurriedly screwing the cap back on his water bottle, Evan tossed it into his pack and zipped it up before completely booking it as fast as he possibly could. Shouting an ‘Aigo’ in Korean, he couldn’t help but look over his shoulder every few seconds at the skeletons that pursued them, throwing their wooden clubs at the two in attempts to knock them out or slow them down. Without warning, a club struck Evan’s back, forcing him to collapse forward and send his face flying into the sand with a groan.

“Ohmigod!” She cried grabbing the club that had hit Evan, “are you okay?” She asked offering a hand to him to help him up, she let them get a few metres away before clubbing them back, one threw a club which hit her in the back of the head. Hard. She fell forward her face going bright red, she cursed under her breath before grabbing the club which had hit her and even though her vision had began to blur she threw a club to Evan “catch.” She beat a few back attempting to dodge more of their clubs but the notices faded and she was seeing everything blurry and the world was spinning around her.

(Be patient and wait to see if anyone comes in.)

Faye stared at their surroundings, watching a small lizard dart across the white-yellow sand, disappearing beneath a clump of rocks. "Just appeared here.." she murmured, spinning to take in the rest of their surroundings. "Where are we? This is so strange."
Jack shrugged. “Death Valley?” He suggested unhelpfully. “The Pyramids of Giza without the pyramids?” He squinted into the horizon for what seemed to be the hundredth time in the- what, the fifteen minutes since he’d woke up? How long had it been? His grasp on the passage of time was tenuous at best, but right now it seemed to have completely eluded him.

Jack shuffled his feet in the sand, his sneakers already filled with the stuff. He reached down and removed his socks, but kept his feet in his shoes to avoid the burning sand. He winced, considering how his feet would feel rubbing against his sweaty shoes as they walked.

Oh yeah. Walking. That’s what he was going to do before being attacked by those discount-version dementors.

“We should move.” Jack announced right before heading off in a random direction without another word. Unfortunately for him, he felt like he had just run the mile under the stern gaze of a particularly cruel PE teacher. Well, he hasn’t planned on jogging over the dunes anyway. It wasn’t like he could with all this damn sand around.

Jack wiped the sweat on his forehead with the back of one hand, accomplishing nothing but giving himself a weird temporarily cowlick. His back already burned with heat, though it was unlikely he had a sunburn. Yet. He turned around to gesture at Faye. “You coming?”

Damir looked down at the girl as she spoke, her words as shakey as she was.
He'd only just realised how much younger she looked. She was still just a kid compared to him, thrown into the same messed-up situation and expected to survive. If he was scared, he couldn't imagine how terrified she must be.

"You're okay now," he said, trying to comfort her somehow, his expression furrowed and his teeth clenched tightly. He wasn't good at trying to calm anyone down, especially not himself, but he tried nevertheless.

"Don't worry about that," Damir muttered, in reference to his own experience within the buildings. "I don't think I got anything like a blowgun, but it looks we got the same bag, at least... Did you get a little tool kit too?"

"I'm Damir, by the way." He added awkwardly, not knowing whether or not to offer a handshake. "I only just woke up, too. So, I don't know where we are either, or why the people here are so... different..."

He didn't say anything to Nina, but he was starting to feel like they weren't lost, or even there by accident.

"I'm Nina," she responded, offering a small, nervous smile in greeting. "I didn't get a toolkit, just the blowgun, some darts, water, and this weird smelly ointment stuff." A streak of eyeliner she hadn't bothered to take off the night before left a dark smear across her temple, made worse when she reached up and anxiously ran a hand over her face.

Turning, she watched the people walking by with wide eyes, taking in their blank expressions and empty gazes. "I don't really know why, but-" she hesitated, feeling kinda silly, "Well, I get the feeling I could start screaming like a crazy person in the middle of the street and they wouldn't even hear me," she admitted sheepishly, glancing back at him for a moment before her eyes flitted away. "They're like zombies or something." Embarrassed, she looked back to where the fragments of the door were.

Or at least, where they used to be.

She did a double-take, doubting herself, but the shattered pieces were gone, like smoke in the wind. "I- I'm so freaking confused right now. Why are we here? What even is this place? Things are disappearing! The door's gone! It- it was right here!" She covered her face with her hands, shaking her head. "I feel like I've gone crazy," she groaned, staring at the ground between the cracks in her fingers. "I'm sorry, I know you don't know any more than I do." Slowly letting out a calming sigh, she let her hands drop, then gestured at the people around them. "Do you think they'll even react if we try to talk to them?"

Next to where the slightly rusted sword had been, sat the sheath, made of dulled, imprinted leather. The sword itself fit perfectly into it, and it fastened well to Leita's torso.

She continued on through the black slate cave, the dripping walls threatening a noxious smell at worst, and a slip hazard at best.
She couldn't see the liquid itself, or even feel it as her outstretched arm infrequently bumped into the cold walls. But, she could hear the small droplets tumbling to the ground, splashing onto the meticulous flooring below, creating small pools in the rock.
Occasionally, she would tread in such pools, and they would soak through her crocs, leaving a sticky film throughout the rubber. Gross, she thought, as she trunged through another puddle, I can't wait to get out of here.

Eventually, she came towards the end of the seemingly endless, one way, tunnel. Light started to glitter across the walls, touching the surface of the rocks delicately, bringing out a deep purple that was hidden beneath.

"Wow," Leita breathed loudly, her arm slowly retreating towards her body, to join her other hand clutching the bag's strap, as she could now make out the shapes surrounding her. It reminded her of being inside an ocean wave at dusk, the way it sparkled with each step.

A small gasp drew her attention to a more important subject. "Dad!" She exclaimed loudly, running towards the light that grew brighter and brighter. "I found a really cool sword in h-"

Her sentence was cut short as she ran out into the blinding sun, onto an insanely narrow ledge. Her leg shot over, causing her to stumble back, falling into a sitting position. She breathed heavy breaths, shuffling back into the relative safety of the cave opening. That was close...

A sharp, shooting pain spread up the back of Leita's calf, causing her to wince. "Haah, that hurts a lot more than a jellyfish sting."

The wound wasn't deep, but it did start to bleed heavily. It trickled down her leg and ankle, into her shoe, mixing with the goop that had already filled it.

"Maybe this has something I can use," she said, sliding the bag into her lap and opening it to explore the contents. She, unbeknownst to her, had the same contents as everyone else; one bar, one bottle, one tin of balm.

Unscrewing the tin unleashed a scent that contradicted her environment. It smelled almost like... "Disinfectant?"
She dipped two fingers in, rubbing the balm between her fingers, close to her nose. It definitely smelled medical, and she didn't see and reason not to use it. As she pulled her fingers away, she noticed two numbers apparently tattooed on her palm - 69.

"Ah?" Leita questioned, hastily dropped the tin to her side, rubbing her palm with her other hand. "I don't remember getting this tattoo..."

A sharp, and very painful, throb came from her leg, distracting her from her previous thoughts. She had something more important to deal with right now.
She took her shirt off, revealing the top half of a one piece swimsuit, decorated with a turtle motif, and her original tattoos.

After gently placing the shirt her lap, she set about rinsing the stinging wound with the water in the bag, after giving it a quick sniff and a little sip, just to be sure it wasn't anything else. Then, she slathered the balm over it, quickly tying her shirt around it tightly.

She used a small amount of the water to swish the slime and blood from her shoe, before putting it back on her foot. She tucked the rest of her supplies back in her bag and stood up, setting about making her way down the side of what appeared to be a mountain.

There wasn't any kind of path, except for one at the very bottom of the mountain. However, she wasn't as high up as she had previously thought, there was a good chance she could climb down, especially now her leg was feeling slightly better.
Leita had climbed a fair distance down the sharp, black mountain. She still had more to climb, but was making good progress.

Halfway down, she had decided that all the tiresome climbing had warranted a short break, so she perched on a thin, but sturdy, ledge to her right.

After taking out her bottle of water and taking a few sips, she let out a small sigh, starting her descent again, hoping she would reach the bottom soon. At least my leg doesn't hurt anymore. That balm must've been a calming antiseptic or something...

Looking around, there seemed to be little indication of time where she was; the sun covered by thick, darkening clouds. She didn't know how many hours of daylight she had left, for all she knew hours could've passed.

A small drop of rain grazed her shoulder, drawing her attention, followed by a few more across her back and legs. The gentle droplets quickly turning into a heavy shower, soaking her and the rocks around her.

"Man, I missed the water." She grinned upwards, letting it rinse through her hair, dripping down her face. The scent was fresh and reminded her of home, which was a welcome note.

At first, she was glad about the unexpected rainfall, as it washed the slime and dirt away. But, it had started to make it difficult for her to cling to the rocks, her croc'ed foot slipping off every few steps.

Thunder rattled through the sky, lightning following shortly after, striking the side of the mountain. This caused Leita to freeze, pulling herself as close to the stoney wall as she could.

Bing. Quiet chiming broke through the angry growl of the sky, calling to the girl on the rocks.

Leita looked up, spotting a small, humanoid, rock-creature. It had no mouth or nose, just two tiny eyes that appeared to be carved holes, dissappearing into a void. It was reminiscent of Kodama, and made out of the same material as the mountain.

There was no sign of hostility from the creature, it just seemed curious. Which was a good thing for Leita, because she couldn't have reached her sword, even if she wanted to. "What the- What are you?"

The creature chimed back in a happy tone, then took a few steps closer to Leita. It used one of its handless arms to tap her finger, its head twitching to the side, like a dog who'd just heard its favourite word.

It started to walk away, its stumps of legs tinkering against the wet stone, heading towards a slim opening in the rocks. After a few steps, it stopped and glanced back at her, as if to say: "Are you coming?"

Leita thought she was going crazy. She'd never seen anything like the little carved creature before, and now she was about to follow it. Maybe it's altitude sickness. This has to be a hallucination.

She hoisted herself up the slippery mountain edge, carefully testing the rock edge as she followed the creature as it led her into the slim cavern.

"Great, I'm back in the mountain again." She stated, flicking some of the water off of herself and checking her bag. "At least we're out of the rain."

The tiny creature tapped her leg insistently, tinkering further into the cave, prompting her to, once again, follow it.

She didn't want to go back to the slime-filled hole she had woken up in, but something told her that she wasn't being led back there.

This creature was taking her somewhere else.
