The biggest lie I was taught was that, to make "good art", you shouldn't have to use a reference. But, that's completely wrong, because even professional artists use references all the time.
So, don't feel bad about using a reference. Just make sure you're not exactly copying someone else's work, or anything like that, and you'll be fine.

No, I don’t feel bad about using references. But that is my trick. But I never use drawings, always photos, and idk how to convert that into a cute style. So my style is super realistic. I’m proud of it.

Mmmm, when I use refs I try to stick with real photos too, the less realistic look is from simplifying. Taking out things that aren't needed to communicate what it is you're looking at.

I’m back. It was a lot quicker than I expected. I didn’t end up getting his X-rays, but the doctor thought it was either a sprain or a strain. They gave him pain meds and said if he was still having issues by next week to bring him back for the X-rays.
They were nice. I got to watch the appointment over zoom, so that was cool.

Yes, but ONLY because it's my boy Thomas; now that I've written him more and decided he's one of my favorites of all my characters, I can't believe I would ever have killed him in an RP ;-;
