I was unable to attend the local one due to work. My husband went, and unfortunately it was very small, only 20-some people, but it wasn't really advertised, either. So, curious how the other ones went, I turned on the news stations last night. FoxNews had live coverage from tea parties all over the nation. I saw the clip with the CNN news reporter screeching in the babies face. She asked the man why he was here, he started to answer, she interrupted him after 2 sentences and asked how that pertained to taxes, he tried to answer her, but she wouldnt let him, screaming instead at him and inadvertently, the baby. MSNBC mentioned only the tea parties in passing, using derrogatory comments.
So I went back to fox, and I actually fell alseep watching it. There were huge turn outs. The one in DC was sabotaged twice, once by the govt pulling out some obscure rule about another permit that was needed (other than all the permits they were told they needed) and later for a tea bag on the white house lawn. Sounds like the gov't was scared of them LOL.
The one in atlanta GA had over 20,000 people, and I heard a report that one in Des Moines IA had over 10,000. The one in NY I never heard a report for, but it strectched 3 full city blocks, down all the side roads too. The governor of Texas attended one there, and the amount of people shown there in the clip was astronomical. I would like to hear a total estimate of attendees in all the cities, but I bet it blew away the 500,000 fox estimated the day before the event.
I'm not an overly emtional person at all, but watching that coverage I teared up last night out of happiness. This was the first glimmer of hope Ive had for this country in years. America is starting to wake up!!
