Okay first of all all these beautiful pieces of art are at my mom and dads house, Dh and I are currently living with them so we've made someone elses home tacky LOL well I say we but its actually me. DH has helped me build some but he could care less if we have chickens or not. My mom used to be a neat freak everything in the yard had to be perfect!! OPPPPS!!

Well heres the first coop It used to be a shed off the side of a building.... but We turned it into 2 runs LOL ( I plan on cleaning the building out and running my incubator out there and some breeder pens and brooders (their all taking up the garage at the moment LOL)

these are the next batch of pens we drug in...

then DH and FIL made me this one for christmas 2 years ago

these came next the coop and the runs are actually pretty nice, we bought one for a pattern and my DH built the second one... The other run is waiting to get it coop built....(its been waiting awhile hubby "has to be in the mood" to build..LOL

Oh I could have big plans for the building but theirs strict rules on it NO CHICKENS!!!! or anything to do with chickens!! now whats the fun in that..LOL

One is actually supposed to be a rabbit hutch but its serving as a chicken pen at the moment.. The kennels was brought in as my grow out pen for the juvys but its housing my D'Uccles at the moment

Well and here is the big picture from the backyard...LOL

Last but not least is the pen thats in the garage (my dad made this one and never got to use it, i took it over )

yep!! thinkin my mom would kill me, everytime somebody comes she's like "I'm so embarrassed" even if its other chicken people... I know they understand....LOL

Pamperedpoultry, you're cracking me up - esp. when I saw the big picture!! LOL and it's not even your house - there are just so many stations that's the funny part and the fact that even the garage isn't safe... !!! But most of these are actually very nice - you will get the quantity award p.s. did you show your mom this thread? That will make her feel better!

The dog house is really cute - but the other one, that's a gem! How many different building materials did you use plywood, shingles, PVC? I know you gave us the pic with the junked out car as an added bonus I love it!!!!

Okay let me see if I remember, (that first coop was a good 5 years ago!)
YES I had to include the picture with the car! For every 2 animals "for me" the BH was allowed another vehicle

So here you see my two girls, and his yard art

The legs are metal chain link posts that took FOREVER to cut & drill holes in.
The box was made out of counter wood? It was shiny smooth on one side, but the other side reminded me of the flimsy wood you put behind a book shelf... maybe that's even where I got it from LOL
The ramp was made out of the same stuff with the shingles added for traction (and you should have seen it bow, and the girls bounce when they were walking on it

)
The inside was plastered with those sticky tile squares and hay.
The roof was SOLID 2x4's, plywood, shingles and sticky tile squares and probably weighed a good 10 lbs HAHAHAHAHAHAHA

Needless to say we didn't use it long. It at least gave them SOMETHING to hide in for a little while

But they really didn't seem to mind... chickens are SO WONDERFUL!

The new and improved dog-coop is a veritable mansion by comparison! And I'm so excited because this weekend (hopefully) we have a very old 10x10 metal shed coming our way!!! I can't WAIT to dig in on that project (which I will take Lots and lots of pictures of!!!) My girls will be living in a CASTLE!!!!

This thread is AWESOME. It really shows the true powers of invention. I think this thread should have a link on the "how to" coop page! Nothing like an inexpensive eye-sore built by someone else to give you comfort and relief at your own coopage!!!

I love, love, love how the "no chicken building" is completely surrounded by chickens!!! It's like a little war zone, "we've got you surrounded", "give up now!" HAHAHAHA

I was counting I have a total of 22 pens right now OH and 4 rabbit pens, I breed lionshead and dwarf rabbits too.....

Ha Ha I'm hoping that with all the chickens they'll hate goin out there and they'll give in.. by the way my mom HATES!! chickens. Also all my pens are filled up and so I have my standard Cochins free ranging so can you imagine the fit she throws when they hang out on the back porch... They've also took to roosting in the garage so needless to say I'm the only one who ventures in there, unless their looking for something and then i get a lecture "them chickens are coming out of the garage, there just aint no sense in that" It now has a nice layer of shavings on the floor over the concrete ..from all the brooders and pens that have knocked the shavings out.. I'm lucky I haven't been given and eviction notice from my parents..LOL
