Hello, we are a family of 5, obviously, my husband and I have two boys, 8 and 2 years old. Also a girl 5 years old. We have a backyard flock of 9 laying hens, mostly RI reds and Bared Rock, one Production Red, and three rooster, we weren't supposed to have. We are raising 15 new little ones, Sexlinks,red and black, more Production Reds, and then the kids wanted some colored egg layers too. We recently converted an old playhouse, that wasn't safe for the kids into a brooder house for the new little chicks, it has worked out really good for them. Plus we have put one hen in with the new chicks that the roosters have pretty much plucked all her back feathers out from riding her, so it makes for a good place to separate one that has been injured, or needs a little TLC. We home school our children, so my time is mostly taken up with that at home, but I hope to be able to check in here and use the resources to help keep our flock of backyard chickens happy and healthy producers.
