I think that @Kiki & I figured out that tags added in an edit do not work

They do not.

Oh this is good to know. Sometimes I'll tag an educator but forget how to spell azygous and have to go find one of her posts or articles and then edit my comment to add her. I didn't realize an edited thread with a tag wouldn't work.
