Tail Feathers

I noticed the Drake Appleyard does not have a curly tail feather? Our neighbor's Mallard flew in and has decided our flock is the ones he want to socialize with. His tail feather has a dramatic curl. I understood all drakes should have this curl?

He is a year old. He was having a battle with two Mallard Drakes a few months ago and I did notice they were pulling his feathers out. Thanks

You're Welcome. Definitely could have been that, they usually lose them during fights.

My oldest Runner drake will sport a drake feather about 3 months of the year then it’s gone. So far he hasn’t started one for this year yet. My youngest got his drake feather around 5 months old and still flaunts it daily in front of his dad he’s nine months old now.

One of my young drakes has misplaced his cute little drake feather all of a sudden too!

Often when one drake has gotten beat and is running away the winner will grab it's butt as in proving his point.
