We have 5 Welsummer chicks all born week and a half ago. Four of them are nearly identical, with VERY long wings already and cute little tails. One of them has NO tail feathers, and the wings are about 1/3 as long. It is otherwise about the same size as the other 4, perhaps very slightly smaller. It also is a bit of a loner. We've heard that cockerels get tail feathers later than pullets, and we're hoping that means we have 4 pullets and one cockerel.

What do you guys think?

You will not know for sure till later. I was able to guess one of my two males from that short tail and even wings. The other males as a long tail and on him it was by comb. Males combs develope faster. I was able for sure to know my male at 3 weeks and now for sure on the other but I think I might have one more that is showing up later. At 5 weeks their combs are already turning red and they have wattles.

I just brought home 4 aracauna chicks 10 days old (I believe) and three of them have little tail feathers already and the 4th one is smaller than the rest. But very pretty.
