true grit-it took me a minute to think of a good title for the post.
teach1rusl-no not really.this is in my step grandfathers coop so i dont get the eggs in there,,she was in there for a month and never came out! the way i know this is because the bag had been pressed down and the chickens were always walking around on top of it... there was no way for her to come out. but somehow i happened to notice there was something black in there and boy was i suprised!
when i finally took her out she craped a pile of broody poop as big around as a basketball! no kidding! it was the absolute worst smell i have ever smelt in my whole life! and trust me ive smelt some pretty rank things.! lol

I have a bag of shavings in my coop, and my hens lay in it all the time...

I have nest boxes and a chair (they used to lay in the chair, but haven't lately), but the majority of my eggs right now (not many right now) are laid in that bag of shavings!

That is TOO funny! I won't look at my bag of litter the same, thankfully most of the ones I buy are in clear plastic!
And apparently a dozen eggs can be stored in more ways than one.
Was your first picture taken with her IN there? if yes, I would NEVER have thought to peek inside!
