So as this bird matured I've heard a lot of guess on what breed she is, everything from Cochin to maran to lanshan! She's a bantam from TSC about four months old now, and currently about the size of a pigeon. Because she came from a hatchery, in theory she's a pure breed, but I'm beginning to suspect not. So I want to hear what you think!

about a week old:

four weeks or so

six-eight weeks

almost three months

And Just today: at nearly four months.

She had dark, but not black, skin. Black legs, beak, and mostly single black comb. Lightly feathered legs with four toes. Puffy cheeks. Very vocal and assertive (but not so much so that she's over the big birds.)

Give it your best guess!
(and if you know what the color pattern is called, too, that'd be cool to know!)

Sumatra/EE cross ???
Bantam EE was one of the ones I was thinking, but the feathery legs threw me off! Do EEs have feathered legs? She usually holds her tail very upright (except for in pictures, the little jerk!) so I don't think she has any sumatra in her, but anything is possible!

or langshan/EE cross
could be! I guess when she starts laying I'll know for sure. All the others her age should be laying cream or brown eggs, so if I see a greenish or blueish one I'll know she's an EE mix! Thanks for your input. :)

With the size, build and how she holds herself, plus the feathered legs and muffs, I'm thinking theres some d'uccle blood there. I agree in theory she should be purebred, and I have no idea what you'd have to cross a d'uccle with to get a bird that looks like her, but that's sure what I think of looking at her. Any luck asking the hatchery?

They're from tractor supply, who gets their chicks from some hatchery, but I don't know which. :) I asked one of the employees, and they thought it was a Japanese bantam. They don't have cheek puffs or feather legs though.
