Has anybody heard of doing this? I was told today that if you take the chickens water away for 1 week then they will start laying bigger eggs. The person I heard it from said they used to live in up north with over 200 chickens and they did it up there but there was a certain time you could only do this. Any thoughts?

Depriving of water will only cause death.

And most likely cause them to get eggbound. Kind of like when people don't get enough water and get constipated.

Take the water away for a week and you birds could be dead...
That has to be one of the most stupidest things that a person could tell you...

About 85% of a egg is water..
If you want bigger eggs get chickens that are known to lay large eggs then put them on a high protein feed and all the water they can drink....

If they don't have water, I would think you are asking for them to start egg eating, they are going to get liquid from somewhere if at all possible.

Well, barring anything else - that's just cruelty to animals to make them go without water!!

Animals can live days without food but only a short time without water. Hope that ninny that told you that doesn't have any animals.
