Taking apart pallets for wood- tips or tricks?

Thanks everyone, great advice and ideas! I think I'll get some pallets home and see how it goes, my dad doesn't have to help with that part, or know where the wood we are using came from! Although he'd just shake his head and laugh anyway, I'm stubborn when I decide I'm going to do something.

Now I just wish our weather was looking better for this weekend- we are supposed to get a snow/rain storm and possibly up to a foot of wet heavy snow. I am so sick of winter, and I want to be working on my coop!
