Taking the first egg

I have a serious question. It's been a very long time since I have raised chickens. Is it OK to take the firest egg a henew lays and they continue to lay or do I leave it. I took one egg and that hen hasn't laid yet aging and it has been almost a week and I had another hen lay tonight and I'm afraid to take it.

Take the egg, it will have no impact on her continuing to lay.

When a hen starts to lay things are very sporadic, gaps between eggs are normal
