Talkin chicken!!!

New as a member from Donalsonville, Ga, however been reading the blogs since January. I ordered 25 rainbow pullet package. All are well.. Then I ordered 17 special girls and guys, of course they put extras in for warmth, several didn't make it, so the shipper sent more, with extras for warmth..now I have 50. Still not sure of the extras, but I do know I have 4 black (?), 1 silver penciled hamburg, 1 golden lakenvelder, 1 Ohio buckeye, and 1 Iowa blue roosters.

I really didn't want this many roosters, but I have fallen in love with each and everyone!! Thank God my neighbors are wonderful people, they don't mind my guys crowing in the morning ( only 2 right now).

I'm not going to sell my extra eggs, I'm going to donate them to our local food bank!! I really don't know why it took me so long to get chickens, I sit with my coffee in the morning and at the close of every day!!! My family thanks I'm crazy...just over my chicks!!!

I can't wait till I get my first egg!! Most are 17 weeks and some are 14 weeks.

wow you really did have a chicken explosion. If you have too many to care for maybe you can teach some of the locals how to raise them and get their own eggs. You are doing a very fine thing for your community.

Thanks drumstick diva. I already have so many people buying chickens since they seen my girls and guys!!! I gave a few of my girls to my daughter so my grand babies would have fresh eggs!!!
