Talkinboutchickens' butterfly/caterpillar thread🦋🐛

I don’t raise butterflies, but found this guy on my shoe as I was doing chicken chores last week. Caterpillar of the Eastern Swallowtail Butterfly, state butterfly of GA

I don't raise butterflies inside but we do grow numerous host or nectar plants on our property for the winged beauties. We'll even tolerate stinging nettle growing nutsy in the yard in late winter thru early spring for the Red Admirals.

A pair of Hackberry Emperors.

I’ve been raising butterflies for a few years now. This year I had tons of black swallowtails. Monarchs are my favorites but have been very scarce here in north Texas. I’ve also raised Queens and hope to get some Eastern Swallowtails on my lemon tree. I have other hosts plant for sulphur and flittary butterflies. I love doing it and think is very rewarding.

good morning friends , how was your weekend and got any plans for today ?
It was a very busy weekend, but a good one, overall. I lost a chick on Saturday morning. We had to euthanize one. It wasn't fun at all, but she was a failure to thrive and it was the merciful thing to do. But I'm getting 2 new babies this weekend. 8 week olds, a pair of Porcelain d'Uccles! Yay! This week will be spent getting my poor house cleaned up after spending all weekend working outdoors, lol. How was your weekend, anything fun going on this week?
