Tall grass?

We had to cull my favorite Silkie today because she couldn’t recover from an impacted crop and other complications from that. I kept reading that it could be caused by tall grass? If that’s the case, wouldn’t everyone who free range have issues with that all the time? My husband doesn’t want to let our chickens out because he’s now afraid that they’ll get it too.

My advice is keep the grass short... if you are worried about the grass in the grass after mowing you can all ways let it sit for a day or two. That is what I do.

Just keep it mowed and you should be fine.

Yes we mow our grass every week or two.

DH mows every night! Admittedly, it is probably a couple of acres, but he mows a section every night unless it is raining, and when he completes the circuit he starts over again.
