Yesterday I was out 'scouting' for rabbits at dusk, and hearing something banging on the fence (thinking it was a rabbit) went over to get it. In the space between the barb-wire and the wood slats, there was what appeared to be a pigeon. But when i picked it up out of the space, i was shocked to find a red-leg, and i hadn't seen any red-legs since there were a few pairs with chicks in spring. Far from screeching and flapping like they usually do, it just gave an indignant *chuk* and proceded to stare at me. When i placed it down on the floor, it didn't fly, it didn't alarm-call, it didn't even run. It just sat there. Thinking there was something wrong with it, i picked it up again and looked at it. All i could see that was wrong was all three toes on the right foot looked slightly knobbly and bent to the left in the middle. Broken foot? birth defect? bad genes?. The second time i put it down, it walked away slowly eyeing me carefully. Satisfied, i turned around and walked off. Only to find that it had followed me. Eventually it got bored of me standing still and walked off. I saw it again this morning, and it walked over again. The same thing happened, it got bored and walked off. I am getting quite attatched to her
(figured out she was female thanks to Google) later today, the Cream Crested Legbar Sisters were dust-bathing over by where i saw Mrs Partridge and seemed to have scared her off. Will she come back? And how did she get so tame? Was she just desiesed? And if so do i need to keep her away from my birds? Parents said no to keeping her which is fair enough because we don't know if she has avian flu or something. (And they don't want any more pets
) Any advice would be appreciated. Thank You!
