Taming Chicks Down...any suggestions?

I have 11 Wyandotte bantams that are 3 weeks old. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to tame them some? They run to a corner every time I reach into their bin. I've raised ducks before and had no problem taming them, but this is my first time with baby chicks (last year I got some 5 week old chicks) and I'm not really sure how to tame them. My nieces love to come and hold the animals, so if they could easily hold the chicks (and chickens once they're grown) it would be terrific.

Hi there. I make sure and take time to hold them every single day.they will put up a fuss but eventually tame down. My chicks are going on 7 weeks now. They still put up a fuss when i pick them up but after they sit on my arm or stomache and let me pet them without any problem. It takes a lot of time but eventually they will tame down and like being handled. Some will like it more than others depending on personality . Just keep handling them.best wishes

This sounds crazy, but my 5 yr old figured out a couple yrs ago, if she wanted to hold them she reached in while still indoors habitat, and pushed them dn into a sitting position then picked them up. Did this daily till next faze, porch cage,( for day time only,) still the same. 1 by one she reached in, pushed them dn in sitting position then picked them up and cradled them in her arms. Finally released to coop, Free ranged, she would go to them, yes scattering, but she got close leaned dn with her hands over them and they would sit for her to pick them up! Crazy but she has done it ever since she was 2 or 3 and they sit for her when she places her hand over them or see her coming for them.

I think food and being around them helps. Mine well, at this point while i am cleaning i have to nudge them out of the way. Personality plays a role too a bit but again they have learned me=food so that makes them like me a lot.
