A vole is definitely a different animal. They're a garden pest, chewing plants, but are also harmless to chickens and are fairly unlikely to spread diseases.
You'll probably want to burrow-proof your coop and run, not against these, but against anything else in the area that could get inside. Rats and weasels, mostly.
If you catch more shrews or moles, release them elsewhere. They're harmless, and both eat pests. Moles eat the grubs that chew on the roots of plants, and shrews will eat those, cockroaches, mice, baby rats, basically anything that's anywhere near their size. You want them around. Just don't handle them, they bite.
