I found this in an egg today. Egg probably a week old. Not sure what this is. Is it a tape worm? In the pic it is in 3 parts, but was originally one continuous strand. Close up also provided.

Looks like tapeworm. Treatment with flubenvet is usually successful.
This isn't a tapeworm. The only evidence I can find of worms in eggs are roundworms, which (from what I've seen) don't look like this.

Tapeworms live in the intestines and reproduce by laying eggs, which are discharged in the feces. I can't imagine a tapeworm, especially one of that size, making its way from the intestines into the colon, upward into the vagina and oviduct until it reaches the uterus, and then remaining in the shell gland while the hard shell forms.

Tapeworms also aren't completely flat like this. They have noticeable segments.

If it's not a parasite, I'm thinking it might be a malformed chalaza, which is the twisted membranes that attach the yolk to the inner shell membrane.

All my birds are older. Not sure which hen. Hens are 4-8 years old.
It is highly possible that one of them has a reproduction type infection going on.

There isn't much you can do if you're not sure who laid it. Even if you know exactly who laid it there may not be much that can be done either.
If reproduction type issues are caught early they can be treated with antibiotics.
