Tape worms? Need help with removal

Yuck! Just noticed today, they were moving, i’m assuming tape worms? what should i do for treatment? Must be available in Canada... I’ve heard pumpkin seeds are good? I’ll give them that until i know what medicine. Thanks

@casportpony may be able to identify them and off an idea of which dewormer to use.

Pumpkin seeds don't really work to deworm, you'll want to get a storebought dewormer. I think praziquantel is the go-to for tapes.

Praziquantel is what you need. You may need to get it from a vet, since Droncet or praziquantel is used to treat tapes in dogs. Do they sell horse wormers with praziquantel in feed stores? I agree with Pyxis that pumpkins seeds will not treat tapeworms.

I agree with everyone, those are tape segments and the treatment is praziquantel. Here in the US most of us would buy Equimax horse paste, it contains praziquantel and ivermectin. Can you get this in Canada?

My parents went out and bought the ONLY wormer they had at the feed store. But it is for roundworms, it’s called Piperazine Dihydrochloride. I’m pretty sure it won’t treat tapeworms. Any advice? @casportpony @WVduckchick

Unfortunately, piperazine won't kill tapeworms. Any chance you can order something online?
