Can chickens get tapeworms? And if so, does it affect their eggs or them? My puppy has tapeworms and we just found out. She goes potty all over the place and I am afraid the chickens may have or will get into the poo and eat the worms??

Such a gross thought...anyway, any help is appreciated!!

Yes, chickens can get tapeworms. Tapeworms steal nutrients from chickens which can eventually affect laying capabilities. There are different types of tapeworms. I dont know if the tapeworms from your puppy are host specific or not. You can purchase Valbazen (albendazole), which is a liquid cattle/sheep wormer and give it to your chickens. It will kill most types of worms including tapeworms. It can be purchased from jeffers livestock.com
