Hi y'all,
I'm new to backyard chickens, but not new to chickens. My grandparents used to raise chickens for Cargill years ago (20-30 thousand at a time), broilers or fryers mainly. And since I lived with them, I helped them in the chicken houses. It's been years since I had any dealings with chickens (other than cooking and eating them...lol). So I'm relearning about raising my own chickens. I'm in the process of building a 4' X 6" coop and trying to decide the type(s) of chickens I want to raise. Dual purpose preferably and I'm leaning towards Speckled Sussex right now. So I'll be needing help.
