Taste of the Wild-update concern on pg. 2

Try a small bag and see how well your dog likes it, then decide. I prefer the Diamond Natruals brand, as it is what my dogs like over all the other brands I have tried. It is comparably priced and comes in many different varieties. It has NO wheat, NO Corn, No soy.

The list of the 4 kinds of TOTW is on here ~ http://www.tasteofthewildpetfood.com/products/

The
Pacific Stream (fish) and Sierra Mountain (lamb) have the lower protein. Wetlands (quail, duck & turkey) and High Prairie (bison, lamb, venison, chicken) have the higher protein.

I get my TOTW at TSC. I have not seen the newer Sierra Mountain (lamb) there yet.

Thanks, i check the link out!

but i really have to decide on this food problem..

Anyone know the protein amount/percentage for the Chicken soup for the dog lovers feed..(large breed formula)

Have any of you ever heard of www.dogfoodanalysis.com ? It is a great site to use to help select and compare dog foods. I usually reccomend people choose anything 4-6 "star" with the exception of vegetarian and vegan diets (which are completely innapropriate for dogs). But anyway, here you can access the ingredient lists for most brands of kibble.

Oh, I also just took a peek at the rating for Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul and some notes under it mention that Diamond issued them a statement saying that they will no longer use Ethoxyquin in their products, so I think it would be safe to say that TOTW Pacific Stream (and other blends) are also Ethoxyquin free.

Thanks for the link..
So.. most of the 6 rating foods are high protein.. Some 40%..

I was wondering why folks suggest that my large breed saint bernard shouldnt get too high of a protein again?? because of joint problems?

I couldnt find the chicken soup for the dog lovers soul(large breed formula) in the ratings anywhere...
Where did you find it at?

Just type "chicken soup for the" into the box... I had trouble with that too.

In my opinion, the fact that it is very high protein doesn't matter that much - it's how much you feed the dog overall. Other's opinions may differ here, but that's the way I've seen it work.

My dogs used to eat Chicken Soup for the Dog Lover's Soul, and ate about 1 cup or more each a meal. Now on TOTW Pacific Stream they eat about 1/2 cup.

Edited to add: Here is the link for the food you are looking for... http://www.dogfoodanalysis.com/dog_food_reviews/showproduct.php?product=912&cat=all (just in case)
