Imogene (taterschickens) is one of the sweetest, kindest people I have ever met (all though I only know her through BYC, I have never met her face to face.)
Several months ago, I was looking to replace my RIR rooster. I was ordering some Orpington eggs around that time and asked the breeder if she had RIR's. She said no but she referred me to Imogene. I had never contacted Imogene prior to that, we were total strangers. But I sent her a PM and asked if she could send me half a dozen RIR eggs. She was all set to send them out ASAP after I asked, but I needed her to ship on a certain day so that her eggs would arrive at the same time as my Orpington eggs. She was obliging, sent the eggs when I needed them. She sent half a dozen extras at no charge. The eggs were packaged beautifully, no breaks. And I hatched 4 RIR's out of that group. I got my rooster! The 2 roos I got from that hatch are the most beautiful RIR's I have ever seen in person. They are so friendly and calm that if I pick them up to pet them, they don't like to get down! Who said RIR roos are mean???? ( That's why we got rid of our first RIR rooster.)
I loved my Reds from Imogene SOOOO MUCH that I decided to get more. I asked her for 2 dozen this time and she sent pleanty of extras. I just hatched them a week ago and got 12 chicks from the hatch. I was telling Imogene how rough the post office is and I am lucky to get 33% hatch rates from shipped eggs. I told Imogene that I never got my Orpington eggs to hatch because the post office was rough with them. So, Imogene offered to send me some Opington eggs from her flock! Her Orpingtons are incredible specimens! I just recieved those eggs today. Lots of extras, all individually wrapped and none broken. All Imogene asked from me was to get positive feed back.
So,
three cheers for Imogene!
She has beautiful birds and a wonderful personality. She is a gift to us all!
