My only tattoo. Got it yesterday.
I've struggled mightily the last 13 years with devastating floods, major career struggles, the loss of both of my parents and caregiving my partner when he developed early onset Alzheimer's. He is now in hospice care and I will have to deal with his physical loss in the not too distant future.
The butterfly symbolizes resilience and transformation and it's placement symbolizes the emergence of strength from the stresses I've shouldered over these years.
It is a red spotted purple butterfly. A species I've found when hiking with my dogs through the forests near where I live. Hiking with my dogs have gotten me through a lot of horribly dark times and have kept me going.
My hope is that my life will start to have more joy than sorrow starting this year and I wanted to celebrate that with this art.

Very nice. I like the color against B&W

That's one of the reasons I chose it.

PSA:
To all the people talking about how the tattoos fade, that is true. But it can be greatly reduced by ALWAYS using sunscreen over them, keeping the skin properly moisturized and drinking plenty of water. Same holds true for your face. Take care of yourself, your skin and your investment and put a great deal of thought into your tat if you are going to get one and it will last much longer. Colors can be touched up.

I have a 2pm piercing appointment tomorrow. I had to move the appointment closer, so I hope Michaela still has adequate time to prepare the jewelry. I will show you all afterward. 😉
Cool! I am looking into getting a second tattoo probably next year around this time. Nothing set in stone just kinda thinking about it but I want adequate time to think about what I want before getting it.
