I've not made any myself yet, but these things are GOOD!

The Wikipedia entry on "tea eggs" looks like the best go-to source on them, with recipes.

I think I'm going to go to costco on my next trip into town next week, and pick up some shoyu (soy sauce) bulk black tea, and hopefully they have some chinese 5-spice. Just gotta make a couple dozen.

You can also get this stuff in an Asian store but after reading an article, I don't buy soy sauce from china any more, I stick to good ol' Kikkoman, made for the last 100+ years in Wisconsin, and a darned good tasting shoyu too!

Some of us have a lot of eggs. Tea eggs would be a hit at parties, farmers' markets, gifts, etc. I think it'd be easy to get 50c-$1 each for them.

Very interesting. I'm going to try making some this weekend. I'm not sure I'm going to like them though

But I'm willing to try most things once.
