TeaChick's Chicks

I'm using a light blue-ish color b/c it's cold. =)

Jan 2, '14:
Egg count for yesterday was five!!! I got a second brown egg. =D

Today, I've gotten 4 so far (two of each). =)

Nothing much else going on. Egg production seems to be picking up, but .... don't count your eggs before they're laid.

Take care!!! =)

ETA: I did make a decision today. I shall take pictures of new chickens I get and peeps that I hatch. As I know that they're cockerels or pullets, and as I decide to keep them and/or which flock they're going to be in. I want to try to start taking more pictures. I realized that I had one chicken I never did take a picture of and two that I lost that I only have "bad" pictures of, meaning pictures of them either sick or dead. So, I'm going to make sure I have good pictures of all the chickens I have from now on. <determined nod of head>
Awesome! =) Thanks!

About the pictures! That is awesome! I am looking forward to pictures. =) Its good to always have pictures on hand... Like this,
Or that,

Or this,

Or that!

Hehehe.

I'll probably be doing the pics about once a month and also when anything changes, like hatching peeps and getting new chickens.
I'm looking forward to getting my Plymouth Rock roo, but IDK when I'm going to be able to get him. Me and his current owner have had colds, so we're waiting until things settle down before we start passing chickens back and forth, that way we're not passing cold germs back and forth too.
So, more pics to come.

January 4, 2013:

Thursday, the second, I didn't get anymore eggs, so 4 (two and two) was the final count.
Friday, the third, (yesterday) I got six (three of each)!!! They're laying! They're laying!

Today, so far, I have four (one white, one tan, one speckled, and one dark brown). =)

I took pictures the other day, so I'll post them, since there's no real news.
Oh, one thing, I decided to put dirt on top of my hen house roof; hopefully it will help with the minor leaks (I might lay down a sheet of plastic first; I'll have to talk to my husband first). Anyway, I'm going to put sod up there, then grass and flowers will grow up there. I got the idea from the Natural Chicken Keeping thread. And please know that you'd be welcome to join in the conversation!!!

Anyway, here are the pics:
I'm posting the pics small; if you want to see any of them larger, you can click on it. =)

This is most of the flock; I think the Leghorns are all that's missing. (Wow! That's a small flock!!!)

This is Eddie on top of the hen house (never mind the yellow five-gallon bucket hanging from the roof; I just stuck it up there, but I left it figuring it might catch some rain water; my plants do better with rain water and I thought I'd try it for fermenting my feed instead of my chlorinated water, but my chooks don't seem interested in the FF anyway, so...) =o/
Okay, now I'm rambling.

This is the Leghorn that joined Eddie (he jumped off right after she jumped on).

This is Caramel (I think, I don't think the neck is dark enough for this to be Chocolate). She's scratching.

And pecking...

And scratching...

And running...

And scratching...

And more scratching...

This is Snoodle. If she were a knight, she'd be Snoodle the Gleaming or Snoodle the Blinding. She's not really this white in person; IDK why I can't photograph her well. =(

This is Eddie on a gate. He is king of all he surveys. lol Or, as we say, "Eddie's in charge". lol

So, those are my chooks (most of them, anyway). And some never-before-seen pics of my chooks in action. lol
What do you think? Individually, collectively, etc. Any and all constructive comments are welcome. =D

Nice pictures! I love Snoodle. Awesome idea about the dirt on the roof and growwing flowers and stuff, I hope it works out as planned! :)

Thanks. She's my favorite, but don't tell the other hens.
Yeah, I hope it works out too. I have to talk to DH and figure out whether we want to use plastic sheeting or not (why or why not to). More research to be done. lol

January 5, 2014 (almost hit 3)
Egg count: seven!!!!!!! (four brown and three white; one from everyone who's laying!!!) Snoodle still isn't laying yet, but hopefully she'll start soon!!!
I guess there isn't really an update.

Off Topic:
My DD is watching E.T. The Extraterrestrial for the first time. =D

Beautiful flock, TeaChick! I'd love to have a breeding flock, and sell the birds, but I'm not sure how to do that, or if I have enough room. So I'll just watch you. :p
