TeaChick's Chicks

Sorry I haven't been on much. I've been tired and busy and we had some weird things happen last week.

There isn't much to tell, really.
ALL of the chickens (including the big chicks) like sleeping on the porch now. So I have to make like ten trips between the back porch and the coop/juvenile "pen".
Snoodle slept under the porch last night. I hope she decides to sleep on the porch tonight; I don't feel like she's safe under there, but I can't reasonablely get her out of there either. And she looks awful still. I hope she finishes molting soon.
The black and barred Cochin Bantams are doing well. DD has been a huge help with them!!! They're so friendly and funny. I'll have to take some pics and post them. =D

What's going on with you all????

Must be a pain to move all those birds every night. Have you tried locking them in the coop for 2-3 days so they figure out that is their home?

It is, but it gets me outside at dusk, which I like, so it's not a bad thing. ;-)
I don't feel comfortable locking them in all day; I've lost chickens that way before. Once I have pens, I won't have to worry about that anymore.

I need your barn.

Build a pen around that and let them roost wherever they want.

Just doing a count, b/c I don't know exactly how many I have right now.

Eddie, Chocolate, Caramel, and Goldie, Flopsy and Cottontail, and Snoodle (6)
Marty, Andy (DS's former pullet now known as Marianne, now a cockerel renamed either Andy or the Professor), and Ginger (3)
Little Red, Georgette, Brown speckled pullet, and black "splashed" pullet (4)
six cockerels (6)
six Cochin Bantams (6)
6+3+4+6+6=25 chickens

Oh, and I have news!!! My friend did a hatch and she only wanted the GLW that hatched, so she said that I could have the BO and the FWM in that hatch That's three more (but they're not on property) and the best news is that the Orpingtons are pullet and cockerel, and the Marans is a pullet!!!

25+3=28
I'm back on my way up to three dozen chickens. We'll send the cockerels to freezer camp probably some time this month; if we don't do it this month, I'll really have problems b/c I'll have almost as many roosters as I have hens and pullets. Then I'll have 22, so I guess I'd better get hatching. lol
