I've still got the soundtrack stuck in my brain 28 years after.

I'm currently reading China Mieville's New Crobuzon trilogy and really enjoying it.

I could not watch Aeon Flux o'r Ghost in the Shell. I know a lot of people love them, but not my cup of tea.

I didn't care for Akira either, or Neon Genesis. I prefer adventure or comedy with my SF rather than violence and insanity.

Science fiction is just a sometimes elaborated and exaggerated form of predictive programming. And in reality the entire scenario or part of it exists in real life. Like cloning and nano critters (x-files book called “Antibodies” has nano technology in it. And without too much detail... so do many humans now. That book was written 30 years ago.) so on and so on.

I feel you. Akira is HARD, too. Like, "watch it 4 times and you might start understanding it" levels of hard.
