Teen chickens?

I have 3 teenage Buckeyes, 3 months of age. Finally moved them to the coop a couple weeks ago...DH sectioned off a section of the pen, made a wall of chicken wire to separate them from adult birds, especially the roos. Dog crate is their sleeping and shade area.

I let them free range separately too, although they don't go far for very long. They still have liitle sweet chirps, and surround my legs when I walk in, very tame. I adore them but still don't know who's a hen and who's a roo.

I have 19 that are just over 7 weeks old.

They survived 111 degrees today. I'm worried about the rest of next week. Once we make it to monsoon I think they'll be OK.

I have teens too! Five of them to be exact. They are almost seven weeks old and they walk around like they are adults.

We laugh at the roo because when he crows it's more like a "cock a doodle burp!" He's trying though.

What works for me is a broom.... move it from side to side while walking behind them to get them to go in. I keep my babies in the garage until they are old enough to go out with my 5 adult hens and 6 almost 4 month old babies now. I used this technique for the 4 month olds when they were still living in the garage and it worked great. Now i use it to chase them out of the neighbors yard which btw is begining to look like a loosing battle for me.... grrrrr wish there was some way to get them to listen to you LOL!!!

I have 17 'teens'. They have learned to dig from under the coop and get out. They are worse than a cooped up puppy for digging their way out. Every afternoon when I get in from work it's chick catching time...I have found that the dip net works well since they can be super fast runners. My DH thinks that in a few more weeks they will be too big to get under the coop....I think there will just be larger holes around the bottom of the coop. They are awesome fun to watch though. They have learned to get into the other coop with the hen and roo that have just Saturday hatched their first babies- 7 little fuzzy butts. It's like atching neighborhood children play from one house to the next.

I have 3 teens here... looks to be one hen and 2 roos.
One roo is crowing already.

We sure do enjoy watching them!
