As i said before in this post i was unaware that there were more ducks in the courtyard..i thought that the first three were the only ones and that there would not be any more until next year...i did not know until yesterday that there were more ducks in the courtyard...so i would appreciate if people would understand that i just did not know and for goodness sakes no one listens to teenagers anyways.....no matter how much we beg and fight for something adults will just ignore us or treat us like babies...

i am trying to do something by the way...i have talked to some adults around here (Warsaw) and you want to know something....THEY DONT CARE ABOUT THEM...PEOPLE HERE THINK ITS DUMB TO WORRY ABOUT OR CARE ABOUT THEM!!!So ya i have told people on BYC what happened, hoping some people cared some do but i also get told that i am not doing enough to help them...i am doing what i can as a teenager...now if i could get an adult on my side i might be able to do something but like i said people just dont care they have their own lives to worry about...or they just dont think the ducklings are worth the time

everyone is telling me to do something and i am trying but like i said no one lstens to teenagers...i get looked at like a freak when i try bringing it up or if i even mention it...but i still try!!!

SO ya i can cry over them if i want...but i am also doing what i can to help the ones next year...

I know you are upset and frustrated Amy, but please understand everyone on here is just as upset, saddened, and as frustrated as you are. We do care. We are just more frustrated because we are not in the area so we can not do anything, only you can. I understand the adults you have talked to have been uncaring about the welfare of these animals, but those adults are not animal control, wildlife rescue, etc. The authorites WILL listen to you, and they WILL care! Not only are they PAID to care, most of those people are animal lovers which is why they got a job to protect animals! Look back on page 5, Terri gave you a link so you can fill out a report online. Amy, please, you have to do something to save what is left of the babies and help stop it from happening again. If I could do something, I would in a heart beat, but being in Maine makes it difficult.

I didn't read all of the other posts, but maybe someone should move the ducks from the school to a safer place. It's cruel to leave them there if the kids keep killing them.

Well i have some sad news...they are basically all dead...except for maybe two...i went through the courtyard at the end of school and i about cried...because laying n the cement on its little back was a little duckling...it was still alive and moving but i guess someone had snapped its neck or somehting cause it could not stand or move its neck...i nearly cried right then and there...as of now i think they are all dead...i am pretty sure the one i saw is going to die...poor little thing

Amy you need to report it it to Fish and Wildlife. Whether or not it's too late to help the current ducklings. There will be more in the years to come and the school and students need to be educated. In addition to the other suggestions see if the Ag or Science dept can invite Fish and Wildlife or the Conservation Officer to the school for an assembly. There's a whole lot of stuff they could cover and teaching them about the ducks could be a part of it.

Or if you have a science fair this could make a great research project that could really teach everyone about the ducks, the law, and conservation. Conservation is a real hot topic.
