Teensy Tinsy Egg............

I went out to check for eggs and gathered the larger one and next to it was the tiny one. That is a dime in the picture. I have 5 hens, one is the mother of the other 4, the young girls just started laying the past couple of weeks but I have gotten normal size eggs from all of them. Has anyone ever had this happen before? Im wondering if something is wrong..............

mine laid really odd eggs at first too... kinda "practice eggs"- but that one is CUTE! maybe you can stick a pin in each end, blow the (adorable little) yolk out, and hang it up in your house forever! I bet that your hen will normalize pretty soon. I wouldn't worry.

It's not a problem. They are called wind or fart eggs. Sometimes happens with new layers. Usually they do not have a yolk.

I call them fairy eggs 'cause I like it better, but my 9-year old son loves to yell--"Look mom, we got another FART egg!"

Someday I'll civilize him, maybe. Like imp said, it's just a glitch in the system, nothing to worry over. We've started saving them. We blow them out and decorate them. Next Easter I'm going to make a little Easter tree with the kids and hang all the decorated fairy eggs on it. We only have three so far but I'm hoping for a few more when this years chicks start to lay.

The ones we have had are backwards, all yolk and no white! But its totally fine
