Tell a scary story!

I sat on my bed, in the dark of night, afraid of a very real threat--I didn't want my parents to know I was on the internet at 11:45 at night. I realized I was rather parched, and decided to go and get a drink. Opening the door just a crack, I slipped into the dark hallway, trying not to wake my sleeping parents. Tiptoeing into the kitchen, I grabbed a glass and poured myself some water. I sipped it quietly for a moment, then put the glass on the counter and turned on my heel, proceeding back to my bedroom.

As I approached my door, I heard a sound--it sounded like the snuffling of a dog mixed with the hissing of a snake. I froze. I closed my eyes. I counted to three. And I recited a rhyme to myself.

".. One.. Two.. Three..
Whatever it is you hear
Or think is there,
It doesn't exist,
Because it's that which only your mind will see."

I gripped the cold door knob and opened my door. A little creature was scuttling around my floor. It looked like a crouching child, but had fish-like scales, and straggly bits of hair that clung to it's head. As it turned it's head on it's thin neck, I looked on with growing horror, at it's two empty, gaping eye sockets.

"... One.. Two.. Three,
Whatever it is you hear,
Or think is there,
It doesn't exist,
Because it's that which only your mind will see."

The creature hissed and came running towards me, hunched over like a money, teeth bared grotesquely. Inches away from me, it evaporated into smoke. My mind and it's tricks were at it again. I leaped into my bed, terrified and nearly crying, and under my covers, I stayed awake for many more nights, terrified of everything that I couldn't see.

Thanks!:D Want to hear more?

Duh!! Ha ha

The dog was barking it's head off. Who could blame it? That was the trouble with owning a house next to the park, twice a year she was deafened by fireworks. What was worse this year she couldn't even see them, too much work. The dog was still barking, barley audible over the pops. She called to it halfheartedly, it fell silent and she turned back to her spreadsheets. Crack, Boom, Bang. She didn't hear the footsteps. Crash, Roar, Sizzle. No one heard her scream.

That was my own writing. I struggle with Acluphobia that I developed as a young child, before I ever saw anything scary. It's so bad that I will sometimes nearly black out when in the dark. It's sad, really.

Rational/irrational fear of the dark. For me, I will go into a full body shutdown. Basically, in the dark, I wont move and breath very lightly, causing myself to pass out. And I see things.

I like the dark but I think of the worst things that lurk just out of eyes site.... Long story short I like the dark but, what hides in it bothers me.

An what do you mean you "see things"?

The depths of my mind will project things that seem very, very real, but actually do not exist. Some of these things are constant, never changing, never leaving; others aren't always there but will show up occasionally.

Wow... My mind has gone crazy I think ha ha. I see a lot of l people of in the distance like black figures, but that hasn't happened lately. And that is crazy a bit.
