I have a bantam black pair, but I just ordered 12 Partridge Standards. SOOOOO eggcited! I know they are typically a really great breed, how do they do with other breeds? I have Aussies, GLW, Sussex, RIR, BR, Wellies, and a odd smattering of roos and bantys.

I had 2 broody hens who were so sweet UNLESS you were achicken and too close to 1 of thier babies. I gave them and a banty rooster away and the rooster remains the king there despite 4 other full size roosters. He was the first rooster, so I think he just never let them find out that they could beat him. I've got frizzle banties now and they are calm and friendly. I think they are fairly smart. I know the full size cochins are slow growers, but very nice. I will get some soon, I hope. They are so impressive!

They are fantastic birds! I have a couple standard girls and some bantam girls - with more in the 'bator.

Mine are in a mixed flock and do great. Super mother

I can only tell you about standard cochins. They are the sweetest friendliest chickens around. My one rooster had to be separated as he was getting pi8cked on I put a young pullet in with him and he raised her just like a hen would Then someone gave mea oegb rooster that I put into the banty pen The little rooster decided he didnt like the banty pen and moved into my cochins pen. They have been together for months now without any problems My blue hen Doodle went to the show in January took a first and came home and promptly went broody. She took over some eggs another hen had started and left and hatched 2 tiny white cochins just a week ago. Doodle is so gentle you can even pick her up when she is broody and she doesnt peck she purrs.

I have two standard Cochins, they are big birds

My Little Ricky is the best rooster I ever had, only rooster that I have ever had. He watches over his flock, lets them eat while he watches out for predators.

Miel is my pullet Cochin, sometimes I call her "Dummy Bird" when she lays her egg out in the chicken run. She likes to lay her eggs where no eggs have been laid before. She is fun to watch, she stays in the background a lot, last to exit the pen, but then she rushes in and goes on the offensive.

The bantams are great...one thing I can tell you is the roos tend to go through a "teen" stage when they get a little naughty and try to attack you LOL Then after a while they calm down and become the sweetest boys ever! Every one of my roos did that and I had lots of them so far

YOur going to love them. I don't keep mine with standards at all because they tend to pick on them A LOT!

Ours is too. He likes to hang out in the coop all day long. The neighbors have been calling him the "banker rooster" because he won't crow until 8:45 in the morning. We love him though. My 5 yr old daughter can go into the run w/o fear of getting chased or pecked by him. He won't "free range" when I let the chickens out, preferring to just hang out while the girls "have an afternoon out."

We have a heckuva time keeping leg feathers on him. The woman we got him from had peacocks that plucked out all of his tail, butt and leg feathers so she gave him to us so he wouldn't be harrassed any more. His tail and butt feathers have grown back but every time his leg feathering grows, the feather buds come on and our one hen Arrow keeps pecking off the buds

I have two standard blue hens, Patience and Prudence, I keep separate from the rest of my flock. They live in a chicken tractor, but come out every day to play. They are the most gentle chickens I have, and the quietest. They let me pick them up without any fuss whatsoever. Right now both are producing an egg almost every day!!
