Tell me about ducks

I know nothing about ducks.

How often do they lay?

I have a park with several ponds at the end of our steet. (2 houses down) would they run away to the ponds?

I never thought about ducks, but somebody was telling me how great ducks were and that the eggs tasted great. I was just wondering if they were easier or harder than chickens.

Ducks lay often, yes. Yes my bet is if they know the ponds are there, they're gone. They are hardy, but very messy. They do lay excellent eggs though, very thick yolks.

Well it just depends on what you call harder. I think my ducks take more work, just because of the mess they make and the water they need. I love my little call ducks tho and wouldn't trade them for the bigger ones.

If they found the ponds, you'd probably have a hard time keeping them home and it sounds like they're close enough they'd find them sooner or later.

My call ducks only lay from about this time of year until late June/early July, but there are other breeds that can lay pretty much year round.
