DH and I currently have DSL. If we switched to HughesNet, would it be a good experience?

(I've had dial-up, cable, and DSL service, but have never tried a satellite service...so feel free to compare satellite internet to any of those).

It's okay, I say this because I do have it. All in all it's better than nothing but, I don't really like it do to the fact it isn't very fast and you can lose connection for up tp 12 hours if there is bad weather or they have technically diffuclties. I wouldnt recommnd it becauase this is like all the time, even wind will affect it

HATE IT!!!!!!!!!!! We just got cable so we now have high speed! Just got it last week. Had Hughesnet for 4 years because they were our only choice. There were somedays that I wanted to crawl up on the roof, 6 months pregnant, rip the satelite off and stomp the crap out of it! If it rained it didn't work! If it got snow or ice on it...it didn't work! If you down load to much stuff...just spending the day refreshing will do it...it will put you on a 24 hour punishment which is slower than dial up!!! Forget ever being able to watch a youtube video again! Even clicking on threads with lots of pictures was a pain because they would never load!! And it is EXPENSIVE!!!
HATE IT!!!!

I love it!!! We had Wildblue and we would max out their Fair Access Policy almost weekly. If you have gamers in the house, do NOT do WildBlue!! It was down ALL THE TIME. Hughes Net has been a GREAT experience for the family, When we lived in town we had Road Runner from the cable company, but in the country no cable! We have Hughes Net and Dish Network for TV. Since we got Hughes in January (when we dumped Wildblue) we have not lost juice a single time- even with two blizzards and an ice storm.
I am very well pleased.
Good Luck!

don't have Hughsnet but i do have direct TV. don't see why the broadband would be down for 12 hours due to weather when my tv has never been down longer than fifteen minutes. i have heard Hughsnet is expensive.

We have Wildblue and wouldn't suggest it to anyone! If there is a cloud in the sky you are stuck. Sometimes I think birds farting as they fly by mess it up. Avoid WILDBLUE!!!!!
