My SLW were late additions to an existing flock, joined 3-4 months after the others (I brought on a bunch in April, then more in May last year, the SLW came on in October, I believe, would need to check the calendar). They ended up at the bottom of the pecking order, though they were energetic, put on weight fast, and were compact little fireballs. Not as predator aware as my dark Brahma, but more excitable than the rest of the flock. Over time, individuals have moved up the pecking order a little, but they remain mostly near the bottom.
Now, as I've integrated recent hatchings (early and late December, January, and now February) they are some of the most aggressive in "protecting" their flock position against challenge by any of the new comers.
Also, they are the least likely to stay in the run (4' fence) overnight when I leave the hen house doors open (as I do in all but the very worst weather. A couple of my Rainbows, sometimes a Comet will be out there with them in the AM, but all the SLW are typically happily escaped and free ranging before I've finished my first cup of coffee.
Hope that helps?
